”Vixens & Valor” – Started in 2015, is new series of figurative works that were created using a set of rules: 1) use of pre-printed or appropriated photographs, 2) use of a very limited monotone palette of silver leaf, with black, white, and/or metallic paints. These rules prompted more discrete design decisions, and relied less on the painted process.
In the ”Vixens” series, hand cut paper shapes and stencils of high-end fashion lines, exotics cars, and global company logos were used as a repeating motif atop digitally manipulated photographs culled from the internet.
In the ”Valor” series, the figure was edited down with masked stencil shapes or painter’s tape. The surface was then painted over, completely obliterating the figure at times.
